Survey Instrument/Sonar Technician

Duties:
Operates sonar and other instruments to complete jobs under direction of Party chief.
- Operates sonar and other field survey equipment to collect data as required for assigned project.
- Loads and unloads equipment; may drive company vehicle to transport equipment and crew.
- Performs assigned tasks following proper safety practices.
- Maintains equipment in clean and orderly fashion.
- Informs party chief of field conditions that may affect the quality of work product.
- Assists in other department projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- AS degree in electronics or 2 years related technical training in the military; or GED plus 2 years’ field survey experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to extend strenuous physical activity to perform tasks.
- Ability to travel and work away from base station.
- Ability to read and interpret job related technical documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to perform intermediate business and surveying application math; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions; ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computer including office administration applications and computer aided drafting system.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to work in field.
