State of Tennessee

For over a decade, Fugro EarthData has partnered with the state of Tennessee to help build a statewide, parcel-level GIS. Work began in 1996 with the mapping of a five-county pilot area—the precursor to the Tennessee Base Mapping Program. Starting in 2000, as a partner in the Tennessee Geographic Information (TGI) joint venture, Fugro EarthData mapped forty-two counties under a phase-I contract. The remaining forty-eight counties were mapped between 2004 and 2007 under a phase-II contract. Deliverables for both phases included aerial photography, photo control, digital terrain models, orthophotography, and planimetric data layers. These parcel-level datasets are useful to a wide range of state, local, and federal government agencies. On July 31, 2007 the state of Tennessee held a reception to officially mark the end of phase-II. Now that the original base mapping is complete, Fugro EarthData is working on an eight-county pilot program to initiate a transition from conventional film-based photography to digital imaging for orthophoto updates.
