BWSC
In 2001, the Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC) enhanced its customer services with a GIS that allows for quick access to detailed maps of water distribution lines and the water/sewer infrastructure, thus providing greater accessibility to records, faster data search times, more efficient maintenance of distribution lines, and, with these improvements, more reliable service to ratepayers. As a result, BWSC was looking for a fast and cost-effective way to update its GIS. Under contract to the BWSC, Fugro EarthData acquired Leica ADS40 digital imagery and used Pixel Factory™ processing to produce a seamless 1'-pixel-resolution true orthoimage mosaic encompassing the 48-sq-mi city.
