2005 US Hurricane Season

During the 2005 US hurricane season, URS Corporation contracted with Fugro EarthData for rapid response mapping production services. URS, in collaboration with FEMA and Michael Baker Corporation, asked that Fugro EarthData orthorectify and collect vector data from imagery acquired along the US Gulf Coast through Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi following Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma. Deliverables delineate ocean-surge debris lines, coastal and riverine flood extents, and polygons of destroyed structures. These data support storm-damage inspections and help URS engineers both validate field-collected data and model results.
