Miami GIS
The City of Miami transitioned from a legacy database system to an enterprise GIS in 2005. Built with conventional ESRI products, the GIS architecture uses a novel two-database approach to achieve three objectives: (1) to enable users to query easily and from the same datasets, (2) to provide ease and reliability of maintenance, and (3) to ensure maintenance can be accomplished by a small GIS staff. Fugro EarthData worked with the city to develop and implement the enterprise system and during the next 2 years will help augment the GIS with land management applications that support all city activities related to land, including zoning, permitting, code enforcement, and property maintenance.
