MS Digital Earth

As part of the Mississippi Geographic Information joint venture, Fugro EarthData is working with the Mississippi Coordinating Council for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems to create a 3D statewide digital land model. The "Mississippi Digital Earth Model" (MDEM) comprises GIS thematic layers such as transportation, hydrology, and government boundaries. Fugro EarthData delivered the first key base map layer in July 2007; it comprised statewide 1"=400' natural-color digital orthoimagery at a 2'-pixel resolution. State agencies are using the data to manage services such as transportation and planning, while counties are using the data for tax mapping and other purposes. Fugro EarthData also has provided other mapping related to the MDEM, most recently completing a 2,000 square mile lidar project over the Camp Shelby area, involving all or portions of several counties.
