Maryland Statewide Mapping
From 1989 through 2003, Fugro EarthData worked with Maryland's Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) to maintain the first-ever statewide digital orthophoto mapping program in both natural color and color-infrared. Fugro EarthData helped develop specifications, modify software, customize hardware, and supply cutting-edge technologies and cost-sharing strategies for program improvements. Used by government agencies across the state, Maryland's base map supports planning, zoning, property valuation, emergency response, infrastructure management, and other activities. This first-ever statewide mapping initiative, with methods for establishing program specifications and cost-sharing strategies, has been a model to other states developing statewide and regional mapping programs.
